Requirements:
- active and ready-to-use Google Analytics account (http://www.google.com/analytics/)
In admin settings of Google analytics page, click on Data Streams:

Click on Add Stream:

In the dropdown choose option "Web"

Enter your website name and stream name:

Click on "Create Stream" button.
You will get a page with needed details such as Measurement ID and Global tag, which you will need to copy and save.
(Please do not leave or close the page until you save these details)

Copy Measurement ID and paste in Google analytics plugin settings: yoursitename.com/admin/plugins/ganalytics
Web Property ID and SAVE:

Then copy Global Site tag fully and paste the code in yoursitename.com/admin/settings/page
at Custom head code field and SAVE:
