Platform/Plugins Update Guide

Note: If the website has custom program modifications, the update process may break or erase them.

Make sure that your PHP version is 5.5 or higher. If you are not sure which PHP version is installed on your server, please contact your host.

Platform/Plugins Auto-update

The system checks for new versions of software platform and plugins every 24 hours.

If a platform/plugin update is available, the notification about the update will be shown in the Admin Area 1).

Important: Before performing update, please back up your files and database first.

To perform the auto-update, please follow the steps described below:

1. Go to Admin Area > Pages > Special Pages > Maintenance Page.

2. Enable the Maintenance Page to close your site from the public.

3. Deactivate all third-party plugins2).

4. Click the Update link for the 'Platform update available'3).

5. Enter the FTP attributes: host, username, password, port4)

6. You will receive the Update complete page when the platform update process to be completed.

7. Click the Admin Panel link to return back to complete the plugins update.

8. Go to Plugins section find the “SkaDate System Tools” plugin.

9. Click Update.

10. Update the rest of the active plugins.

11. Update the rest of third-party plugins by activating them one-by-one.

12. Enable DEV MODE.

13. Refresh any site page and disable DEV MODE.

Note: Always read release notes from developers for special instructions before updating plugins.

Platform/Plugins Manual update

If auto-update can't be applied you can contact our support team or try to update the platform/plugins manually.

Platform Update

1. Go to developers.oxwall.com.

2. Download the Oxwall Update Pack.

3. Upload and unpack it into the directory where your software is installed5).

4. Finalize update by opening your site from this URL: http://[your_site_URL]/ow_updates/6)

Note: We strongly recommend not to modify the existing files, but create a new plugin because it will lead to the changes loss if you decide to update them. If, indeed, you have changed the code, copy all changes before the update and apply them again once the script is updated.

Plugin Update

1. Go to Oxwall Store.

2. Find the plugin and download the latest plugin's version.

3. Upload and unpack the plugin's archive into the /ow_plugins directory7).

4. Login to Admin Area and click the Update button to update the plugin DB.

Note: If you need to update one of the plugins included into the SkaDate package, you should login to the client area and download all required plugins.

Theme update

Note: Make sure that constant DEV MODE. is disabled.

To update theme, follow these steps:

1. Go to Admin Area > Appearance > Themes.

2. Click the Update button 8).

If auto-update can't be applied you can contact our support team or try to update the theme manually.

1. Go to Oxwall Store.

2. Download your current theme.

3. Upload this theme to /ow_themes directory 9).

4. Enable DEV MODE.

5. Refresh any site page and disable DEV MODE.

Note: If a plugin or theme causes errors after you complete the update process, please contact the plugin/theme developer directly for information on the next update and compatibility issues.

The Google Maps APIs require an API key for new domains. See announcement: http://googlegeodevelopers.blogspot.com.au/2016/06/building-for-scale-updates-to-google.html

To fix this:

1) Create an API key as per instructions here: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key

2) Add the Google Maps API to the plugin settings via Admin Area > Location Maps > Settings.
