How to use keyword research

Note: As an example we used the keyword research for the dating site with the target audience -Singles over 30.

Keyword research explained

At this point you should have received the keyword research from our SEO Specialist and you are stymied what to do next.

Let's take a look at the numbers, values of the keyword research and their meaning.

The most you should be interested in are:

Keyword column - This one is easy, this is the keyword we suggest you to use, according to the information you provided regarding your website niche, location and target audience.

Average monthly searches column- This is the exact amount of people who googled this keyword for the last month.

Suggested bid column - This is the price you would need to pay for every click on your website in Google search results pages, in case you obtained ads in Google Adwords

Keyword difficulty column - This is a value of competition. The closer it is to 1, the higher competition is. If the number is higher than 0.75, it is practically impossible to appear in Google search results by this keyword. Competition is severe. Unless you have tons of money to compete with the giants for Google rank.

You see that all general dating keywords are busy and very competitive and there's no any sense of using them. Here's an example of such words:

If you type such keywords in Google search, you'll see websites like:

Eharmony.com , Match.com , Badoo.com which have been on the market for ages and take most of the revenue of the dating business.

All those good keywords are too general, but even among them you can find the ones that you can use.

For example:

Keyword difficulty is 0.6. It's not that bad and 1900 people were searching by this keyword.

There are a lot of similar keywords with low competition in such keyword researches, here's an example:

Almost all of these keywords have been looked for in Google by 70-100 people. If 5-10 people find your website by these keywords, that's a really good start.

Get back to square one - your site title, site niche, think about the things that make your website stand out and select something corresponding among the provided keywords or the keyword your website title, niche and audience can relate to.

SEO section in the admin panel

Apply those keywords to your site meta description, title and meta keywords in the SEO section in the Admin Panel.

Keep in mind that site Meta Description and Site Title sections are way more important than the keywords, therefore, to fill up the Meta Keywords section is really up to you.

Site content

Apply keywords within your site content. As an admin you can upload videos, photos and name them using the selected keywords. Create blog and forum posts, where you can tell about your website, give some advice to your current and potential clients and again using the same selected keywords.

Keep in mind that Index page is the most important page in terms of SEO, it attracts most of the traffic. Also, there's a chance that some of the generated content becomes viral, let's say a video or a blog post and most of the traffic to your website starts to come from that page. That is great, in terms of SEO your site will be ranked better because of that page, but the Index page is still the most important SEO-wise.

Therefore, you will need to create some content on your Index page as well. You can use Custom HTML widget for that end.

You can create blocks with information such as: Why join us?, why your site stands out among others, presented features, how your site works, your target audience, who would benefit from subscriptions to your website etc.

Type the keywords you selected with low competition in Google search . Check the websites in the search results, some of them could be blogs, forums or public portals that contain articles, advices, posts regarding related topic. Most of them has a comment area at the bottom of the post. You can leave your feedback regarding the matter and include your dating website link along with the feedback. However your reply should look organic and match the information provided in the article or post, otherwise you comment will be deleted.

Moreover, you can contact the topic author or the administration of the website to mention your website in the post. Conditions of such “collaboration” usually should be discussed individually with the topic author or the administration of the website.

For example, you search for “dating site for smart people” keyword in Google. You'll see Quora.com in 5th position, where you can easily leave a comment why your website is the best site to meet/date/find smart people. Voila, now you have the backlink to your website which eventually not only will up you rank in SERPs but you will end up in the top results of the SERPS by the keywords through the sites you were mentioned on.

Such a link building in addition to viral content along with the high level of social sharing work best for the SEO.

In addition, you can create your own blogging website, where you can give advices or just post something relevant to your dating website niche or target audience. Don't forget to include your dating website link to your posts to create a backlink.
