How to customize my site’s Index page?
The Index page is the cover of your website. This is the page the guests and users see once they open your site URL. We provide a few tools to customize the Index page according to your needs and site conception.
To customize your website’s Index page, you should first login to the site with the administrator account access details.
1. Go to the Index page by typing index in the address bar: http://[your_site_URL]/index
2. Click the Customize this page button at the top of the page.
3. You will be redirected to the Index customization page. Here you can perform the following customization actions:
Re-arrange widgets
You can easily change the way the widgets are arranged on the Index page.
1. Click the Customize this page button on the Index page.
2. Move the mouse cursor over the widget title and drag it 1)
3. Then drop 2) this widget to the preferred position.
4. Click the Finish Customizing button.
Configure an existing widget
Most of the plugins have their own widgets on the Index page.
When you install a plugin, its widget is automatically added to the Index page.
You can configure settings for the existing widgets.
For example, to change the number of users shown in the Users widget, you should:
1. Click the Customize this page button on the Index page.
2. Find the Users widget.
3. Click the Edit (wheel) icon against the widget’s title.
4. The Settings window will pop up.
5. Enter the number of users you want to be shown in the Count field.
6. Click Save.
7. Click the Finish Customizing button.
Remove an existing widget from the Index page
To remove a widget from the Index page, thus making it invisible to users, you should:
1. Click the Customize this page button on the Index page.
2. Find the widget you want to remove.
3. Click the Delete (cross) icon against the widget’s title.
4. Click the Finish Customizing button.
Add a widget to the Index page
To add the widgets that are not yet available on the Index page, you should:
1. Click the Customize this page button on the Index page.
2. Find the desired widget in the Available widgets area at the top of the page.
3. Move the mouse cursor over the widget’s title and drag it.
4. Then drop this widget to the position you prefer.
5. Click the Finish Customizing button.
Create a custom widget
You can add your own custom widgets to the Index page.
For example, to place an additional advertisement banner to the Index page, you should:
1. Click the Customize this page button on the Index page.
2. Drag the Custom text/HTML widget from the Available widgets area.
3. Drop this widget to the position you prefer.
4. Click the Edit (wheel) icon against the widget’s title.
5. The Settings window will pop up.
6. Enter the banner code into the Content (text/HTML) field.
7. Click Save.
8. Click the Finish Customizing button.
| Note: You can add as many Custom text/HTML widgets to the Index page as you prefer. You can use the Custom text/HTML widgets either for adding simple text or HTML/java-script code. |
Customize the Sidebar
Along with the Index page, you can also customize the Sidebar 3)
For example, to place the Welcome widget at the top of the Sidebar, you should:
1. Click the Customize this page button on the Index page.
2. Drag the Welcome widget.
3. Drop the widget to the top of the Sidebar.
| Note: Be advised that all widgets in the Sidebar will be visible for non-logged in visitors even if you make your site private and hide the Index page for guests. |
