The matchmaking is based the Gender profile question.
Example: you are logged in as female user. In your profile you have specified that you are looking for male. When you visit My matches page, system will:
- check whom you are looking for. In our case you are looking for males > system will find all male users.
- check whom those found male users are looking for.
If male user is looking for male - this will be excluded from matchmaking process, since you are female user and you don't match their looking for value.
If male user is looking for male - this user will be included into further filtering process, since you do match that user's Looking for value.
As a result, system pulls the list of only relevant male users. That is the user list you see when you click My Matches.
If the system should match people using the additional information, you should add additional matchmaking rules based on the profile questions.
Let's consider the Matchmaking system configuration on the example of Religion field:
1. Create the Religion field
Note: Only the following questions types are applicable to the match questions: Single choice Optimized (Faster results, limited values), Single choice (radiobutton). |
As soon as you add a new question, go to Admin area > Plugins > Installed plugins > Matchmaking > Settings > Rules
Click Create new match question
Click the star sign for the question.
Then this question will show in the Matched Questions area and in Admin area > Users > Profile questions > About My Match section.
Go to Admin area > Plugins > Matchmaking plugin ยป click the Settings button.
Here you can see the list of preset matchmaking rules.
Scroll down and add new rule
Note: The more stars you set for the rule, the more relevant this rule will be in the matchmaking calculation. |
For example, you created 3 rules with 3 stars for each rule.
The total number of stars is 9.
If members match on all 3 rules, the compatibility will be 100%
If members match on 2 rules, the compatibility will be 2/3 or 60%
If members match on 1 rule, the compatibility will be 1/3 or 30%
Click Add.
To remove a matchmaking question, hover the mouse over questions and click Remove.
The Gender question is the basic question for the Matchmaking plugin, so it can't be deleted. The rest of profile questions affect matchmaking compatibility and can be deleted.
Note: If you want the system to send the matches to members' personal email, go to the Settings section and configure the schedule settings. |
If the user did not fill match profile questions, the system checks the this is unimportant box automatically. In this case all values for this profile question will participate in the matchmaking.
Users can see their matches on the My Matches page. They can sort the members by newest or most compatible.
The matches are also available on the Dashboard page.
Users can also view the compatibility degree on the profile view page.
